Rod Gozinya
Rod hails from the Gozinya klan of Scotland where he left as a small child when his father had a business idea to sell kilts in Hollywood.
Unfortunately his family was ridiculed for their attempts to bring Scottish heritage to the plastic confines of L.A. and as a lad of 6 now down and out, he began to drink heavily and pound on anything he could get his hands on…
Thus his natural ability to pound the skins and drink like a PRO…
As a teen, he became very proficient behind the drum kit and while Gozinya had invitations to play with some of the biggest and most successful bands on the LA circuit during the 80’s, he turned them ALL down, waiting instead for the RIGHT thing to come along…
Whether it was right or not, it must have been fate on that hot smoggy day at the Port of LA, where Gozinya had passed out face down in the dirt the night before. Awoken by some (other) long hair trying to go through his pockets, Rod regained consciousness only to find himself looking into the grinning face of none other than Sy Kotik – who smiled giddily at Rod, holding up a flask of whiskey which contained just enough content to seal the new found friendship.
Unknown to Rod was that Sy’s smile was mostly due to the fact that the flask came from Rod’s pocket. Regardless, the two began to talk and dream big together, the way that guys do while sharing a flask at a dirty ship yard…
Days later, they hooked-up with guitarist Kraven Mohrhead whereby immediately growing their chat group and drinking team by one more.
Rodney wasn’t aware yet that what he just stepped into was the fertilization that would nourish the seeds, that would eventually grow the twigs that would become known as HAIR NATION…
